Unfortunately he got injured before the event and therefore he couldnt participate. His style could be described as a forceful contradiction to the laws of gravity with his ability to transition from one difficult freeze to another. He uses his creativity to add a masterful and artistic touch that translates brute strength to light and airy combinations that play with your eyes and mind. His signature moves are single hand pop variations from freezes and freeze flow combinations. BAEK started breaking with a friend when they were 15. They didnt really know what they were doing. They were just interested in learning cool dance moves. Later, after watching a video tape of the first Korean B-Boy crew called People Crew, they realized that they were actually breaking. BAEK is a member of the Extreme Crew. To him, his crew is his family and family to him is everything. He says that hooking up with his crew was a turning point in his life and that he wouldnt be dancing or living his life the way he does without them. They gave him the means and support to pursue a career in dance and they are his biggest inspiration. Apart from his crew he mostly was inspired by Benji, Blond, K-Mel, and Crazy Geun. Dancing is the most important thing in BAEKs life. The only thing he really wants is to be a successful dancer and to stay true to himself. He tries not to be swayed by trends and to continue to pursue his own personal style. I am trying to stay true to my roots and my original intentions and mindset from when I first started dancing. BAEK loves Hip Hop culture. He says, Hip Hop is freedom! The freedom to enjoy a culture in a freestyle manner that people all over the world can relate to and live within. BAEK has a very supportive family. He says they dont really know what Hip Hop is or what kind of world he lives in. They dont even really understand what he actually does for a living, but they always pushed him to do what he feels is right for him. Apart from dancing, BAEK is into photography and sees that as another career chance if his body should ever give up on him. He also likes travelling a lot and wants to travel the whole world. If he gets a chance he wants to try out bungee jumping and skydiving soon. In Korea a great Hip Hop scene evolved within a few years. B-Boying is everywhere—on TV, in the papers, and in many theatrical shows. At the tourist office in Seoul, you will find a flyer about a B-Boy show right next to one about a classical Korean dance performance. There are many events in Korea and the Korean B-Boys are known to be among the best in the world because they are extremely dedicated. They compete against many other countries at events like the Red Bull BC One, the Battle of the Year, and the UK B-Boy Championships and have won those competitions several times. However, unlike crews from elsewhere, the Korean B-Boys are required to do two years in the army. Its hard for them because during their years of military service, they have almost no chance to practice and its difficult to get back to the top when they finally leave the army. Therefore, the Korean breakers practice extremely hard, because they realize they only have a few years to make it. BAEK says that hard work, humility and the will to have lots of fun is what makes a good B-Boy. You can choose to sleep and dream or you can choose to work hard and achieve those dreams! Enjoy it!
