'The Sting', a deliciously clever crime/comedy was directed by one-time Oscar winning director George Roy Hill, and featured both Robert Redford in Paul Newman as leading actors.
The title soundtrack from Marvin Hamlisch was based on Scott Joplin's 'The Entertainer', however, despite carrying the same name, the music is often simply referred to as 'The Sting' as people tend to associate it to the film. A witty tune fits a witty movie, so it's only logical.
