According to one source, the song on this video is
actually sung by Wayne Carpenter, a 70's era
songwriter and session musician (and former
son-in-law of animator/director John Wilson).
Some of the lyrics were changed, possibly at the
request of network censors. Lyric changes include
changing the word "Pernod" to "Bourbon", and
giving the song a happy ending in which the
alcoholic makes "an unbelievable transition" and
beats his addiction to booze.
