Crème Brulée is a classic French dessert.
Active Time: 30 min
Total Time: 4 hr
Serves: 4 to 6
Step 1: Making the Brulée
* 2 cup whipping cream (heavy cream)
* 1 whole vanilla bean
* 1 1/2 tsp. orange zest (or 2 tsp. orange
liqueur)
* 1/4 cup sugar
* 6 whole egg yolks
Preheat oven to 325°F. In a medium pot heat cream
over medium low. Slice vanilla bean, scrape out
seeds and add to cream along with the orange zest.
Whisk everything together, and let come to a
slight boil. In a separate bowl mix the egg yolks
and sugar together. Then slowly whisk a little bit
of the hot cream into the egg mixture. Whisk
constantly while slowly adding in the remaining
cream. Strain the mixture and pour into ramekins.
Place ramekins into baine marie. Bake for 22-26
minutes, depending on size of ramekins. Once done,
let cool and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight.
Step 2: Finishing the Brulée
* 6 tbsp. sugar
Once you are ready to serve, sprinkle top of
custard with sugar and caramelize the top. The
best way to do this is to use a torch. You can
also use the broiler. Let cool for a minute before
serving. Tags : creme brulee recipe cooking dessert howto diy gourmet rouxbe food instructional |

| Sonic Youth - 100% + Creme Brulee - Concentric Groove LP |
 |
I Didnt want to attempt to narrate ALL of this, so
Ill type the bulk of it.
This record has alot of odd things about it.
Firstly, Its Orange marbled vinyl. Secondly, Its a
10" LP, meaning its a 33 1/3RPM LP, but isnt 12"
like most 33 1/3LP's.
But the major unique factor is that this is whats
called a 'concentric groove' record. (which I
misspoke as 'concentric circle' in the narration).
What this means is that when you look at the
record, It appears to only have one track on each
side of the record. There is no 'blank spot'
separating the first and second track, as you see
when tracks are cut and-to-end. Instead, The two
songs are cut 'side-by-side'. Upon close
inspection, you can actually notice the two
separate grooves. But they are so close together
its almost impossible to 'choose' a song. Its kind
of hit or miss! But what it ends up meaning is
that you start the needle at the beginning of the
side for BOTH songs, and they both run to the end
of the record. It just depends which groove you
catch!
This side of the record is '100% / Creme Brulee',
and They both start with distortion, making it
that much harder to get the right song!
Artist: Sonic Youth
Song: 100% / Creme Brulee
Year: 1992
Format: 10" LP, orange vinyl, concentric groove.
label: David Geffen Company DGCV 11
Player: 1954 Webcor Holiday Coronet
notes:
notes: Relocation of the camera placed it in a
good angle to watch the record, but set it in a
poor angle for sound as the speaker is pointed
away from the camera. Tags : sonic youth 100% creme brulee concentric groove orange vinyl LP |
