The Pogues - Curse You Oliver Cromwell officially
known as Young Ned Of The Hill. (Malacht Cromail
Ort - Curse of Cromwell on you)
In the year 1649 Oliver Cromwell was responsibe
for the murders of thousands of Irish men, women
and children simply for being Irish and Catholic.
While the massacre continued for two years after
he left Ireland had it not for the Scottish
Rebellion of 1650 the genocide would have
continued until our subordination to England was
assured which would and did never happen. The
remaining Catholic land owners were banished to
the moors of Connacht, hence the old Irish saying
"To hell, or to Connacht". As for Cromwell himself
what I would give to have been able to look into
his eyes and take his life, when he died I hope he
was in a lot of pain, what happened two years
later to his corpse was a fitting end to the
tyrannt. Tags :AlanCurtisThePoguesCurseYouOliverCromwellLoveofDearOldIrelandYoungNedOfHill
