TimeThe Associated PressTyson Gay has run the
fastest 100 meters in any conditions, a wind-aided
9.68 seconds, to qualify for the U.S. Olympic
team. The time doesn't count as a world record
because it was run with the help of the wind
blowing at 4.1 meters per second. (June 30)(mark

ever to run the 100 meters in any condition is a
title US sprinter Tyson Gay now holds. But it is
not considered a world record.Gay ran a wind aided
9.68 100 meters and won the US Olympic qualifying
race, followed by Walter Dix running a 9.80 and
Davis Patton's 9.84.Gay, Dix and Patton all
qualify for the Beijing Olympics.Tyson Gay

TIME. THAT'S THE TIME THAT JOHN DRUMMOND HAS
ACTUALLY BEEN INSTILLING IN ME IN PRACTICE AND
STUFF SAYING THAT I'M CAPABLE OF RUNNING 9.60.
REGARDLESS OF THE WIND CONDITIONS I WAS STILL
SATISFIED." (mark Carlson track/cover with AP

second.Anything above 2.0 is not allowed.TYSON GAY

WHEN IT'S PICKING UP BEFORE YOU GET IN THE BLOCKS.
I'VE BEEN RUNNING TRACK LONG ENOUGH TO KNOW WHEN
IT'S GOING TO BE OVER 2.0."(mark Carlson

title of World Record holder because of the
wind. That title is still held by Jamaican, Usain
Bolt.TYSON GAY (courtesy NBC/Universal)"I STILL
DON'T THINK I HAVE A LOT OF PRESSURE ON ME EVEN
THOUGH I RAN THAT TIME. REGARDLESS BECAUSE IT WAS
WIND AIDED. WHEN WE GO INTO THE NEXT BIG RACES OR
ANY OTHER MEETS WHEN WE MEET UP HE'S STILL GOING
TO BE THE WORLD RECORD HOLDER REGARDLESS." Mark

trials is 2004 Olympic 100 meter gold medal winner
Justin Gatlin. Gatlin is currently serving a 4
year doping ban. Tyson Gay supplanted Gatlin as
the American favorite, not just because Gatlin
cannot compete in Beijing, but because Gay is now
the fastest man in the 100 meters in any
condition.During qualifying Gay set the official
US record running a 9.77 Mark Carlson,
