| Basque Gastronomy - Spain |
 |
Oct 2003
The closed world of private men's clubs doesn't
usually boast a group of fanatical cooks.
But in the Basque country, men get together to
cook succulent, gastronomic feasts for each other.
Competitions are held between the best cooks, and
it's all washed down with lots of red wine. With
women forbidden from the proceedings, the
popularity of these clubs is growing by the day. Tags : food cooking spain san sebastian basque gastronomy journeyman pictures |

| Gastronomy in Ticino: Tradition and Regional Products |
 |
Ticino cuisine draws its roots from the culture
and traditions of the Prealpine region and above
all from Lombardy. Alongside these influences, of
which traces may be found in a large number of
recipes, the specific taste of Ticino can
nonetheless be defined as a full-fledged regional
cuisine, since it is based on regional produce.
Numerous typical dishes have been handed down from
one generation to the next; they can indeed still
be enjoyed in the region's famous grotti, as well
as in many restaurants where famous chefs, listed
in the finest gourmet guides, skilfully
reinterpret this authentic legacy of refined
gastronomy and subtle flavours.
Ticino is also a land of vineyards lying on sunny
hillsides that produce great wines (Merlot del
Ticino for example)
