UPDATE: Issue fixed with recent firmware update.
I've got the PS3 connected (via HDMI) to a
Panasonic 42" plasma, model number TH-42PX500
(Japanese TV). The PS3 is set to output to 720p,
which my TV can handle.
When I launch a PS3 game, after the "Playstation
3" logo appears, the screen goes black. The game
is loading fine, I just cant see it.
The only way I can regain control of my TV at this
point is to tune into the regular TV channels
using my TV remote. Only then I can use the input
selection button to get back to HDMI. Once I do
this, I can see and play the game.
My guess is that the PS3 is sending some kind of
signal through the HDMI cable that is making the
TV unhappy. The strange thing is, I tried a PS1
game and it worked fine.

I power it on, but it doesn't POST. Just keeps
restarting itself...
The problem is not the board or memory. I had a
5000BE running on it yesterday and used it to
flash the bios to most current version. The
problem must be with the CPU. Good thing I didn't
wait too long to try it out; I've got a couple of
days left to RMA it back to newegg.com.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to why the
power would cycle like that without ever POSTing?
I've tried a different PSU, as well as setting it
on an anti-static bag only to test it. Doesn't
seem to be any kind of short. I think it's just
the CPU, eh?

and you'll need one to get the best picture from
your new setup. The most expensive model we found
in-store was a Monster cable costing upwards of
$250. We found a generic one online for just $12,
including shipping. The test? To see whether the
extra money was worth it.

this is just a heads-up to those of you that are
looking to purchase an HDMI cable. The brand ATAK
has an HDMI cable out that has a bad signal and
doesn't transfer the video and audio from ur
playstation to the HD tv. look out for the cheap
shit, a good hdmi cable should cost no less than
35 bucks. this bad one i got was only $15. i
should have known there was a catch.
