Graham Greene provides a humorous commentary on
the type of stereotypes that still abound
regarding American Indians
In response to some of the negativity that has
popped up in the comments section: I typically try
to leave my editing hand out of the comments
sections for the videos I post. Occasionally I
will respond to a question or a comment but, even
if I disagree with a message someone has left, I
generally try to leave everything up. It's part of
my belief that open communication is one of the
best ways of addressing and working through
problems in our society. That being said...I've
noticed, of late, even more hostility being aimed
at the posters of comments. Names and allegations
are being slung back and forth, specifically in
reference to certain individuals' "right" to
consider themselves Native. I want to be clear
that I do not buy into the belief that an
individual's blood quantum is all that makes that
person Native. Historically, as long as the tribe
accepted you as one of them you were considered
part of that tribe. This went on to include other
Natives who married into other tribes, as well as
white settlers who came to live with the People.
Only with the legislations and regulations set
forth by the government about who can be
considered "indigenous" has the subject of blood
quantum come into play. I, for one, do not
subscribe to the way of thinking that a person's
percentage of blood defines who they are. I have
known many people who are enrolled as full members
of a tribe who know next to nothing about their
history and culture. I have also known people who
would not be allowed a place on the legal rolls
but who, none the less, are considered members of
their respective Native communities. At the
moment, we are the only people (that I know of, at
least) who constantly hear the question "What
percentage Indian are you?" Personally, I find
this question kind of insulting - as though by
being a "half-blood" an individual is somehow less
worthy of respect or less knowledgeable about who
they are and where they come from. Until we stop
asking each other this question, however, I feel
we are doomed to hear it asked of us.
Those of us who are lucky enough to have grown up
in families where our Native heritage was not
hidden away undoubtedly know that there is still a
great deal of hatred and intolerance out there.
However, that does not entitle us to look look
down upon those who were not able to grow up with
this knowledge. Those who are just now finding out
about it should not have to feel like they are
being penalized for something they had no control
over. They did not choose to have cultural
information kept from them. They have just as much
right to try to find a place for themselves within
Native culture as those who were raised within it
in the first place.
I received this video in an email from my aunt up
on the rez a while ago and posted it here because
I thought it was entertaining. I found it a
tongue-in-cheek response to all of the attention
on Native mysticism, medicine, etc that sometimes
gets a little old. I did not post it in order to
bash other races. I do not condone hatred and
prejudice - I don't like the results of it. The
world is a harsh enough place as it is without
adding more hostility. I will not deny that
horrible things have been done in the past (and,
in some cases, continue to be done today).
However, I strongly believe that, by holding on to
the hatred and by clinging to the arguements of
who-did-what-to-whom, we make ourselves sicker as
a people, and can not hope to move forward and
improve ourselves until we can at least entertain
the thought of letting our animosity go.
Please try to keep your posts and comments
pleasant. I welcome polite debate, but if negative
comments continue to dominate the board, I will
disable the comments feature for this video. Tags : Graham Greene Lakota funny |

| Russell Means Pt 1 Lakota declares its Sovereignty |

Russell Means explains the need for Real Lakotah
Sovereignty
RepublicOfLakotah (dot) com
Check out PART II where Russell Means explains
Colonialism by the Imperial Power (World Order).
It is not NEW World Order because it was first
perfected on Indian Reservations. It is now being
forced on everyone. Economic development is
banned, outsourcing and our money is being sent
to China India Saudi Arabia... and it is disabling
our society. We have switched from a productive
society to a consumer society.
The Imperialists created Reservations, then Hitler
copied the idea and created concentration camps,
now they are creating American Concentration
camps. HR 1955 & S 1959 (Homegrown Terrorism)
laws will make this possible if passed.
The Medicine man, Floyd Looks For Buffalo Hand,
warns of upcoming martial law being declared right
here in the US. Bush is already setting up
detention centers in the US. He has snuck in law
to make him a dictator and he will be able to
suspend the 2008 elections. These prophesies can
be stopped. It is a glimpse of what the future
holds, think of it as a warning. But you can stop
it, spread the word. Knowledge is power.
The Bush administration has released a directive
called the National Security and Homeland Security
Presidential Directive - Directive NSPD 51/HSPD 20
. The directive released on May 9th, 2007 has been
hidden from us. Search youtube bush dictator...
or search for: NSPD 51/HSPD 20 In this
directive, Bush declares that in the event of a
"Catastrophic Emergency" the President will be
entrusted with leading the activities to ensure
constitutional government. The language in this
directive would in effect make the President a
dictator in the case of such an emergency. The
directive defines a "Catastrophic Emergency" as
the following. "Catastrophic Emergency" means ANY
incident, regardless of location, that results in
extraordinary levels of mass casualties, damage,
or disruption severely affecting the U.S.
population, infrastructure, environment, economy,
or government functions... If we bomb Iran, or the
next president is assassinated (before
inauguration), an economic depression, a natural
disaster, riots... any trigger could be called a
Catastrophic Emergency and Bush would declare
martial law and remain in power for an
undetermined length of time. Department of
Homeland Security has a $385 million contract with
Halliburton to build temporary detention
facilities. Search Youtube for American
Concentration camps or search: rex 84 operation
garden plot. Bush pardons himself of war crimes
and now he is trying to suspend the 2008 elections
and declare himself a dictator. Search Youtube,
Google it. Spread the word and stop him!

PLEASE READ! IMPORTANT!
First off, I want to thank everyone who's watched
my videos and supported me with kind and
encouraging comments. It really means a lot, and
it gives me hope that this new series of videos
will be very popular.
Second, I have to say that I am in NO WAY an
authority on Lakota culture. The information I'm
presenting is essentially my translation of Luther
Standing Bear's own words. If anything I present
here strays from his words, known facts, or is
speculation I will point it out. I realize that
some of what I present may contradict popular
knowledge. If that's the case, then it is because
Luther Standing Bear's viewpoints differ from the
mainstream. If in my interpretation of his work I
incorrectly portray the Lakota, then I apologize
ahead of time and urge anyone with proper
information (or differing viewpoints) to post a
comment and point out what they believe needs
correction. The comment pages for these videos
should be a forum where we can exchange ideas and
learn more.
As I was reading LAND OF THE SPOTTED EAGLE, I
realized that this book is a miracle and a
treasure. I did not realize that such a vivid
picture of Lakota life existed in print. It
affected me so much that I'm compelled to share it
with as many people as possible. It is my firm
belief that the Lakota people epitomize the best
that human nature has to offer when we put our
minds to fairness, kindness, equality and the
acceptance of the mystery of being alive. If this
video grabs your interest, then do yourself a
favor and get a hold of this book.
I hope you enjoy the video and yearn for more. I
get a great deal of satisfaction building these
videos up from my simple desire to help people see
the world in a new way. Tags : Lakota Sioux Native American Standing Bear Spotted Eagle |
