[Notes:SOT: Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary
Nobutaka Machimur]SOT: "THE DAMAGE REPORTS ARE
GRADUALLY GETTING BIGGER WITH TIME. GOVERNMENT
AGENCIES AND THE POLICE FORCE ON THE FIELD ARE
CLOSELY COMMUNICATING TO GET AS MUCH INFORMATION
AS POSSIBLE. AT THIS POINT.A Japanese TV network
recorded this video as the quake rocked their
broadcast complex....The morning temblor was about
280 miles north of Tokyo---but it was felt in the
capital.Electricity was cut off to about 29,000
households in the quake zone.Authorities concluded

| Magnitude 2007 - SF Fog vs Portland Avalanche |
 |
Video episode of the San Francisco Fog RFC's rugby
match against the Portland Avalanche RFC on May
19, 2007 at the Magnitude Tournament held in
Seattle. This was the second of three games in
Pool A competition played by the SF Fog. The
Avalanche proved to be difficult for us for awhile
in the beginning, but the Fog found its way back
on its feet en route to a 52-0 victory.
Cheers to the Portland for a great effort! Hip Hip
Hooray!

Gutenberg, ambos membros do California Institute
of Technology (Caltech), que estudavam sismos no
sul da Califórnia, utilizando um equipamento
específico - o sismógrafo Wood-Anderson. Após
recolher dados de inúmeras ondas sísmicas
liberadas por terremotos, criaram um sistema para
calcular as magnitudes dessas ondas. A história
não conservou o nome de Beno Gutenberg. No
epicentro.
A fórmula utilizada é:
ML = logA - logA0, onde
A representa a amplitude máxima medida no
magnitude 5.
