Monkeyland DVD: Brown Howler Monkey 'Romeo' was the King of the Canopy. Many times wanting to play with Atlas the Gibbon as seen on the Monkeland DVD. 22 august 2002 Romeo died. So sad today we think of him, spent so much time to get and finally got his fantastic roar. He knew I was filming him, and showed his loudest territorial song. For all Monkeyland visitors who have seen him in the past and show future generations his howl at its very best. Thats why Romeo is on the Monkeyland DVD and will not be forgotten. Lara wrote: "He was diagnosed with leukemia. The only way we could save him was via a bone marrow transplant (from a fellow Howler Monkey). The vet noticed that Romeo was without a doubt an ex-lab monkey, sadly this might have led to him being ill. I was the one who drove Romeo to the vet for utinasia. There is nothing as upsetting as looking at a face of someone you love dying." Lara
