Worker to Worker (1980)
A film showing the many kinds of safety and health
problems that workers encounter on the job.
Workers talk about OSHA and NIOSH and their
experience in convincing others that they don't
want to shut the plant down — they just want a
safe work environment. Produced and distributed by
OSHA in 1980. Then in 1981, the incoming head of
OSHA Thorne Auchter recalled and destroyed most
copies. A few copies were kept alive by renegade
union officials who refused to return their
copies. The penalty for being discovered in
possession of one of these films was loosing all
OSHA funding for their safety and health programs.
This film was preserved through the years through
the efforts of Mark Catlin, who made this and
other censored OSHA films available for
digitizing. Tags : osha.gov public.resource.org |

Federal Civil Defense Administration
Duck and Cover
NTIS AVA11109VNB1
From the Wikipedia:
Duck and Cover was a social guidance film produced
in 1951 by the United States federal government's
Civil Defense branch shortly after the Soviet
Union began nuclear testing. Written by Raymond J.
Mauer and directed by Anthony Rizzo of Archer
Productions and made with the help of
schoolchildren from New York City and Astoria, New
York, it was shown in schools as the cornerstone
of the government's "duck and cover" public
awareness campaign. The movie states that nuclear
war could happen at any time without warning, and
U.S. citizens should keep this constantly in mind
and be ever ready. Tags : FedFlix ntis.gov public.resource.org |

| Oral Arguments against Same-Sex Marriage (2006) |
 |
New York State Court of Appeals
6/17/2006, C-SPAN Program ID: 192974-1
From C-SPAN's Description:
On May 31, 2006, New York's highest court, in
Albany, heard oral arguments in four same-sex
marriage cases: Hernandez v. Robles, Samuels v.
New York State Dept. of Health, Matter of Kane v.
Marsolais, and Seymour v. Holcomb. At issue was
granting marriage licenses to same-sex couples
based on the New York constitution's guarantee of
"equality, liberty and privacy for all New
Yorkers." The challenge to the state's marriage
laws resulted from an appeal filed by 44 same-sex
couples who lost their cases in the lower appeals
court. In this portion the attorneys arguing
against gay marriage were shown.
