| Myths About the Developing World (1of3) (Hans Rosling @ TED) |
 |
This global health visionary has discovered a
powerful new way to communicate complex data about
the world. He co-founded Gapminder, whose
remarkable interactive graphs help deliver
profound insights about global trends and dispel
myths about the "developing world". With the drama
and urgency of a sportscaster, he debunks a few of
those myths in this presentation delivered at the
2006 Technology, Entertainment, Design (TED)
Conference. (http://www.ted.com/)
Hans Rosling is a Professor, Doctor, and
Co-founder of Gapminder

| Hans Rosling: Watch the end of poverty |
 |
http://www.ted.com In a follow-up to his
now-legendary TED2006 presentation, Hans Rosling
demonstrates how developing countries are pulling
themselves out of poverty. He shows us the next
generation of his Trendalyzer software -- which
analyzes and displays data in amazingly accessible
ways, allowing people to see patterns previously
hidden behind mountains of stats. (Ten days later,
he announced a deal with Google to acquire the
software.) He also demos Dollar Street, a program
that lets you peer in the windows of typical
families worldwide living at different income
levels. Be sure to watch straight through to the
(literally) jaw-dropping finale. Tags : rosling trendalyzer ted tedtalks statistics |

| Gapcast #1 - Health, Money & Sex in Sweden |
 |
With Hans Rosling.
In the first gapcast from Gapminder Professor Hans
Rosling shows how economic growth, public health
and sexual rights have changed in ... all »
Sweden during 300 years. In only 6 minutes he
shows life expectancy and GDP per capita of Sweden
from 1709 to 2004. With trendalyzer graphics he
compares historic Sweden with countries of today.
300 years of Swedish progress covers today´s
disparity from Sierra Leone to Japan. Wheras
education of midwives started in 1709 it was only
in the 1970Ães that family planning was included
in their training. Sexual rights came late in
Sweden compared to progress in health and wealth. Tags : Hans Rosling gapcast Gapminder health sex money |
