| Scout Niblett's Take Away Show - Wolfie & Baby Emma |
 |
The Take Away Shows are a weekly Video Podcast
produced by the french weblog "La Blogothèque".
The live sessions are shot in a spontenaous and
improvised way, creating intimate and beautiful
moments of pure emotion and unplanned surprises...
You have to check their site here:
www.blogotheque.net/takeawayshows
you'll see Arcade Fire playing in an elevator, St
Vincent playing on a bed in some Parisian
apartment, Beirut playing in the streets and so
many more...
This particular session is my new favourite
one...Scout singing Wolfie while climbing up some
neverending stairs, stomping and the repetitive
singsong tunes. Scout is elsewhere when she sings,
her features harden and when her voice rises, when
she insists, it hurts, it flows right through you
and forms knots, you hold your breath, close your
eyes and your stomach get tense, and you want it
to never end because it hurts, but the kind of
pain you need to feel alive... What a magical,
intimate scene, and you should see the girlish
smile which illuminates her face, right after she
finished the song!
Then, she sings Baby Emma. Her hair hid her face,
Scout almost spat her song, her face once again
completely changed, the notes coming from the
cello will make you shiver, moanings coming from
nowhere, rattles, and still this pain... At the
end of this improvised duet, Scout, roguish, gives
thumbs up and starts laughing, real happy for what
just happened Tags : scout niblett folk rock blogotheque janis joplin pj harvey catpower chan marshall |
