reconocidos de Boney M. a nivel mundial "Rivers of
Babylon". Canción del verano en España 1978. En
Alemania. Hasta ahora nadie ha podido superar el
récord ostentado por el grupo que mantuvo su
éxito con dicho tema durante 17 semanas en el
puesto nº 1. En total han sido 37 las semanas que
ha permanecido en el Top 100 alemán. Como dato
histórico hay que mencionar que "Rivers of
Babylon" es una canción espiritual compuesta por
Brent Dowe y Trevor McNaughton del grupo The
Melodians. Está basada en un himno de la Biblia ,
el Salmo 137 de la versión del rey Jaime. El
Salmo 137 expresa el lamento del pueblo judío en
el exilio, tras la conquista de Jerusalén en el
año 586 a .C. por el Imperio de Babilonia. Los
ríos de Babilonia son el río Eufrates con sus
afluentes, y el río Tigris, la canción también
tiene fragmentos literales del Salmo 19:14.
